What is the Wireless Deer Fence®?
The Wireless Deer Fence® is a patented deer repellent and training system that is guaranteed to provide effective deer control in your yard and garden. The Wireless Deer Fence® works like a baited electric fence but without the wires. Back to top

Where is the Wireless Deer Fence® made?
The Wireless Deer Fence® is made and assembled in the United States except for some parts made in other countries. Back to top

Does the Wireless Deer Fence® really work?
Yes. The Wireless Deer Fence® has been field tested since March 1996, and it has proven to be very effective in most applications. Over 100,000 posts have been sold since October 2000 with a 2 year, complete satisfaction guarantee and it has a very low return rate. We have many thousands of satisfied customers in all 50 States, Canada, Mexico, Western Europe, Australia and Japan. Back to top

What does the Wireless Deer Fence® look like? How tall are the posts? What are they made from?
The posts are dark green with a small blue cap: they are 19 inches tall and weigh about 6 ounces. The bottom 2½ inches is the stake so when they are in the ground, they are about 16½ inches tall. They are made from UV resistant PVC plastic. Back to top

How many do I need?
There is no set number of posts; it is not an exact science. The best approach is to put a post wherever you think a deer will find it. There are many variables, one of them is budget, so we cannot be exact about numbers. If you put more posts the deer will find them sooner, with a few posts they will find them but it may take a little longer. You can try a few posts on a smaller area and see how they work, or you can try as many as you think you may need, since they are sold with a complete money back guarantee. Back to top

How far apart should I place the posts?
There is not a set distance between the posts. Put a post wherever you think a deer will find it. Between 5 and 25 feet is a guide, but it depends on many factors such as the terrain, the layout of the beds, the existence of other barriers, etc. Back to top

How do I position the posts?
Put a post or two on the deerís entrances and paths and also put posts around things that they like. Put a post wherever you see signs of deer... tracks, droppings, damage. Position the posts prominently so the deer have the best chance of finding them. Back to top

How much does the Wireless Deer Fence® cost? How many come in a box?
The posts are packaged 3 in a box for US$59.95 and this includes shipping and handling to the US and Canada, and it also includes enough attractant to last for one year. Additional postage charges apply to orders outside the US and Canada (charged separately). Back to top

How long do the batteries last?
The batteries should be changed about once a year. Back to top

What kind of batteries does the Wireless Deer Fence® use? How many are needed?
Two AA alkaline batteries are required for each post. Back to top

How does the Wireless Deer Fence® work?
The individual Wireless Deer Fence® posts are positioned around plants that deer eat and around entrances to a yard or garden. When deer that come into the area are attracted by the scent to touch the posts, the Wireless Deer Fence® delivers a startling but harmless shock which frightens the deer from the area and they are afraid to ever return. Back to top

Don't the deer get used to the posts?
Once a deer touches a post and receives a shock, it seems to be a lifelong learning experience and the deer will not return to an area. The deer associates the discomfort of the shock with the area and also with the smell of the perfumed oil used on the device and it will not return to the area especially when it smells the devices. Back to top

Do I put them on the perimeter?
Yes, you should put some on the perimeter especially where you see deer sign or where they are coming in, but you should also put some in the interior of the area so that a deer that wanders past the posts on the perimeter will still have a chance of finding a post. Back to top

Do I put them in the beds?
You can put the posts in the flower beds or in front of them. If you put the posts in the beds, be sure that they are not overgrown by the vegetation. Back to top

How do I order the Wireless Deer Fence®?
You can order online, by phone at (800) 927-5356 or (866) GOT-DEER, by mail at Wireless Deer Fence®, PO Box 11, Unionville IN 47468, or by fax at (812) 335-8242. Back to top

How are they shipped?
The Wireless Deer Fence® posts are sent by Airmail, through the US Post Office. Back to top

When can you send them?
Orders are usually sent the same day, Monday through Saturday, if the order is received by 2:00 p.m. Eastern time. Back to top

How long does shipping take?
Priority Mail (Air Mail) usually takes 2-3 days, but this is not guaranteed. The time in customs for international orders is unpredictable, but usually it is less than 2 weeks. Back to top

Can you send them overnight?
Yes. Additional shipping charges will apply for overnight shipments. Please contact us for a precise shipping quote. Back to top

What are the shipping charges to the US and Canada?
A separate charge will be made for exact postage only. No handling or other charges. Customs duties and import taxes may apply to orders outside US.Back to top

What are the shipping charges to other countries?
Additional shipping charges apply to other countries. For example to Western Europe the additional charges are about $8.10 for one box and $14.60 for 2 boxes. Back to top

Are they guaranteed?
The Wireless Deer Fence® is guaranteed to provide satisfactory deer control or we will refund your money plus your return postage. Back to top

What if they stop working a year from now?
You can return them for a complete refund. They are guaranteed for 2 years. Back to top

What if they are covered by ice and snow?
The posts will be discharged if they are covered by ice and snow. To be effective, the Wireless Deer Fence® should be kept clear of ice and snow. However, it will not harm the posts to be buried under snow and it will not affect the battery life. Back to top

Do I need to move them around?
Generally there is no need to move the posts although they are easy to move if you should ever need to. You can move them seasonally to protect newly emerging plants, etc. Back to top

After the deer are trained, can I move the posts to another area?
You should not take the posts out of an area because there is always the chance that new deer will come into an area. Every year there will be new fawns and sometimes deer will enter new territories. Back to top

Do they work for cats, dogs, raccoons, woodchucks, squirrels, moles, bear, possum, armadillo, etc?
The Wireless Deer Fence® will only work for deer. Back to top

Will they attract bears?
The attractant is designed to attract only deer, but other animals may occasionally be attracted to touch the post. Back to top

Will they attract dogs, cats, or other animals?
The scent used on the Wireless Deer Fence® is designed to be unattractive to dogs and cats. Most animals that have been observed except deer seem to not be attracted. Back to top

Will they hurt hummingbirds attracted by the blue top?
Hummingbirds attracted to the post will not be able to make contact between the electrodes and will not be harmed. Hummingbirds have been observed checking out the blue top, but not touching it. Even if they did touch the post, the chances of them touching both wires simultaneously is very small and even if they did touch both wires the chances of them discharging the device is very small because of the high resistance of the bird's dry beak. If on the offchance that they did discharge the post it would not hurt them because it is a very small amount of current and the current path would be only through part of their beak. Back to top

What if my dog, cat, child, etc. touches the post? Is it safe?
The Wireless Deer Fence® is safe for accidental victims. It only gives off a very small amount of energy, less than 0.15 Joules. Children and pets should be warned about the devices. The posts can be easily removed from an area when children or pets are present. If a child or pet should touch the posts, they will receive a shock that will startle them, but will not harm them. Back to top

What if it rains?
The Wireless Deer Fence® may be discharged by rain, but it will charge up again after the rain stops and it dries out. Back to top

Will my sprinklers be a problem?
Sprinklers are not a problem, but the posts should be positioned where the sprinklers will not hit them if possible. Getting wet from a sprinkler is the same as a rain shower. The posts will charge up when they dry out. Back to top

Will they start a fire?
Even if a post falls over into dry material, the very small spark is not sufficient to start a fire. In an explosive environment the small spark of the posts could cause a fire or an explosion. Back to top

How long does the attractant last?
The attractant should be replaced about once a month. Each box comes with enough attractant to last a year with 3 posts, changing the scent once a month (36 pieces). Back to top

Where can I get more attractant?
The attractant can be ordered online, by phone, fax, or mail for $6.95 postage-paid for enough attractant to last 3 posts for one year, 36 pieces. Back to top

What is the attractant smell?
The attractant is a sweet smelling mix of food scents that are attractive to deer. Back to top

Is the attractant toxic?
The attractant tubes are essentially non-toxic, even if ingested. Excessive contact with skin or excessive inhalation of fumes may cause slight skin or respiratory irritation. Back to top

Do you accept credit cards?
Yes, we accept American Express, VISA, Master Card, Discover, or checks. Back to top

Who do I make my check to? Where do I send my check?
Checks made out to Wireless Deer Fence® should be sent to Wireless Deer Fence®, PO Box 11, Unionville IN, 47468. Back to top

Where do I return the Wireless Deer Fence®?
If they donít work you can return them to Wireless Deer Fence®, PO Box 11, Unionville IN 47468 for a replacement or refund of your purchase price. Back to top

I have one that doesn't work. What should I do?
The small spark can be hard to see. Carefully follow the testing instructions on the instruction card, allowing an hour after installing the batteries before you test. Test in subdued light to help see the spark. After carefully retesting if you still have one that doesnít work, call 800-927-5356 and we will replace it. Back to top

Can you make them taller?
An extension can be used with the Wireless Deer Fence posts, but the deer find the posts very well even being short. They are browsers and tend to investigate what is on the ground in front of them as they move around. Back to top
